- The following is a comprehensive description of the System 7 information and
- tools that will be provided to User Groups in the June mailing.

- ° USER GROUP SYSTEM 7 MATERIALS AND ACTIVITIES
- The June User Group monthly mailing will be dedicated to System 7.0
- information. The mailing schedule is being pushed up to May 20 to get the
- infomation as close to the introduction date as possible.

- Over 1200 User Groups and Professional Associations will be receiving resources
- such as training materials on CD-ROM and reference manuals. The primary goal
- is to enable User Groups to:

- • Educate users about System 7
- • Enable them to upgrade successfully
- • Encourage others to upgrade

- • Apple System 7 Q & A (a comprehensive 49-page document)
- • How to Really Install System 7.0
- • Apple Advantage "Testing" Brochure
- • Competitive Reference Guide
- • "SMASH" Disk
- • TrueType brochure
- • Apple Intro News (dedicated entirely to System 7.0)

- ° USER GROUP SYSTEM 7 TOUR
- Worldwide Product Marketing and the Apple User Group Connection have organized
- a 5 city tour to present System 7 at the main meetings of the largest User
- Groups in the US. The host User Groups have also extended invitations to
- members of other local User Groups to attend this special System 7 meeting.

- ° USER GROUP SYSTEM SOFTWARE LICENSING
- User Groups who have signed the software distribution licensing agreement are
- authorized to distribute System 7 to their members. These User Groups will
- receive System 7 disks directly from the Software Licensing department
- beginning May 13. User Groups are not authorized to distribute nor
- will they be receiving HyperCard 2.1, which is now a Claris product.

- In addition, all User Groups will receive one set of System 7.0 manuals as a
- reference for the group. For members that want HyperCard 2.1, System 7.0
- manuals and access to Apple's 800# telephone support, it is recommended that
- they purchase a Personal Upgrade Kit.

- Group Upgrade Kits are recommended for sites with 6 or more Macintosh
- computers. The System 7.0 software can be distributed to an unlimited number
- of users, however HyperCard 2.1 may only be distributed to 20 users. To
- upgrade additional users, please contact Claris Customer Relations at (408)
- 727-8227.

- ° USER GROUP SYSTEM 7 CONTEST
- The User Group Connection is implementing a User Group System 7 Awareness
- Contest. Prizes (Macintosh LC and a StyleWriter) will go to User Groups who
- demonstrate creative and effective distribution of System 7 information as well
- as conducting educational programs about System 7. Winners will be announced
- on Apple’s first TV broadcast to end users, the User Group Fall kick off event
- in September.
