  3. The following is a comprehensive description of the System 7 information and
  4. tools that will be provided to User Groups in the June mailing.
  5.  
  6. ° USER GROUP SYSTEM 7 MATERIALS AND ACTIVITIES
  7. The June User Group monthly mailing will be dedicated to System 7.0
  8. information.  The mailing schedule is being pushed up to May 20 to get the
  9. infomation as close to the introduction date as possible.
  10.  
  11. Over 1200 User Groups and Professional Associations will be receiving resources
  12. such as training materials on CD-ROM and reference manuals.  The primary goal
  13. is to enable User Groups to:

  15.     • Educate users about System 7
  16.     • Enable them to upgrade successfully
  17.     • Encourage others to upgrade
  18.  
  19. The User Group mailing will contain the following System 7 materials:

  22. • Advanced User Techniques CD-ROM
  23. • System 7.0 Product Intro CD-ROM
  24. • System 7 Data Sheet
  25. • System 7.0 Support Options for Customers
  26. • One set of System 7.0 Manuals
  27. • Fonts and System 7
  28. • Apple System 7 Q & A (a comprehensive 49-page document)
  29. • How to Really Install System 7.0
  30. • Apple Advantage "Testing" Brochure
  31. • Competitive Reference Guide
  32. • "SMASH" Disk
  33. • TrueType brochure
  34. • Apple Intro News (dedicated entirely to System 7.0)

  38. °  USER GROUP SYSTEM 7 TOUR
  39. Worldwide Product Marketing and the Apple User Group Connection have organized
  40. a 5 city tour to present System 7 at the main meetings of the largest User
  41. Groups in the US.  The host User Groups have also extended invitations to
  42. members of other local User Groups to attend this special System 7 meeting.

  55. ° USER GROUP SYSTEM SOFTWARE LICENSING
  56. User Groups who have signed the software distribution licensing agreement are
  57. authorized to distribute System 7 to their members.  These User Groups will
  58. receive System 7 disks directly from the Software Licensing department
  59. beginning May 13.  User Groups are not authorized to distribute nor
  60. will they be receiving HyperCard 2.1, which is now a Claris product.

  62. In addition, all User Groups will receive one set of System 7.0 manuals as a
  63. reference for the group.  For members that want HyperCard 2.1, System 7.0
  64. manuals and access to Apple's 800# telephone support, it is recommended that
  65. they purchase a Personal Upgrade Kit.
  66.  
  67. Group Upgrade Kits are recommended for sites with 6 or more Macintosh
  68. computers.  The System 7.0 software can be distributed to an unlimited number
  69. of users, however HyperCard 2.1 may only be distributed to 20 users.  To
  70. upgrade additional users, please contact Claris Customer Relations at (408)
  71. 727-8227.

  73. ° USER GROUP SYSTEM 7 CONTEST
  74. The User Group Connection is implementing a User Group System 7 Awareness
  75. Contest.  Prizes (Macintosh LC and a StyleWriter) will go to User Groups who
  76. demonstrate creative and effective distribution of System 7 information as well
  77. as conducting educational programs about System 7.  Winners will be announced
  78. on Apple’s first TV broadcast to end users, the User Group Fall kick off event
  79. in September.
